Be Still, Let God

Psalm 46:10 – “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (NIV)

This post was inspired by my personal life experiences regarding my future. Not knowing what your future holds can be frightening. But thankfully for us, we have a God that has proclaimed that through Him, our future is already set in our best interest.

Be still. This part of Psalm 46:10 has really called me to change the way I live. Being still can be compared to being patient, calm, or not worrying. Instead of acting irrationally, becoming anxious, or stressing about the future, take a step back and understand that God has your back. Try not to rush into decisions before asking God to lead you in the right direction. All in all, WAIT before reacting.

And know that I am God. Understanding that God is in control of all situations can drastically change the way you think. God always has a good plan for our future even if it may not seem that way in the present.

I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. God should be held in the highest regard. Praise God for your wins AND losses in life. Ultimately, God allows events in our lives to grow us spiritually and bring us closer to him. I’ve learned to humble myself and thank God for my blessings as well as my shortcomings. God doesn’t give us anything in life that we can’t handle.

Take a moment to reflect on how God has impacted your life positively. It’s easy to look on all the negative aspects of our lives. Thinking negatively has no good outcome and allows the potential for sin to enter our lives through anger, resentment, etc. I know it may be hard to see all the good in your life compared to the bad right now. It has taken me a long time to realize that myself. Changing your perspective on life will allow you to grow in ways that God wants us to grow and in ways you have never known. Be patient and let God work in your life! I promise it’s worth it.
