Proverbs 27:17 – “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
I’ve always been told throughout my life that the people you hang around the most are the people you become and resemble. Looking back on certain individuals I used to associate with in my life, that couldn’t be more true.
It’s very important to surround yourself with people who will build you up instead of break you down, support you during tough times, always have your best interest at heart, and most importantly: push you closer to God.
I challenge you to find those you can keep close and grow with as brothers and sisters in Christ. Personally, I’ve found that joining small groups through church and volunteering has been extremely beneficial to my growth as well as allowing me to be able to push others in their walk with God. I understand the possible intimidation of surrounding yourself with people you don’t know, but you will only benefit from it. Everyone involved with the church has the same goal in mind, which is to grow in their faith and to encourage others to do the same.
Seek those who offer criticism when needed, help improve yourself and keep you accountable, and motivate you towards your faith with God.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 – “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
